「カップモール」
それは、バルサ製の、ある種のささやきを持ったノイジールアーだった。
手のひらに乗せると、その軽さに少し驚いた。それはまるで、まだ記憶に新しい夢の断片のような、あるいは、遠い夏の日の午後を閉じ込めたような質感を持っていたからだ。

このルアーには、奇妙なまでの自信を持たせた。水面の、あるいは水中の、あらゆる種類の「ノイズ」を涼しい顔で通り抜ける力があった。その秘密は、腹部にそっと埋め込まれたウェイトだ。それはまるで、静かな思考の中心に据えられた確かな重りのように、どんな混乱の中でもルアーの姿勢を安定させた。そしてダブルフックは、まるで密やかな約束のように、ボディにぴたりと沿うように設計されている。

大抵のルアーは、少々正直すぎる。ヒートンがわずかに飛び出し、それが水中の竹や倒れた葦、あるいは、まるで時間の澱のように溜まった浮き草や落ち葉に、不用意に触れてしまう。そうして、引っかかる。それはまるで、心の中にひっかかる、忘れかけていた棘のようなものだ。

カラーは、水中と空との境界で、明晰なメッセージを送るような「ホットタイガー」。

それは、ただのルアーだった。しかし、それを手にすると、なぜだか、遠くの波の音や、どこかのカフェから漏れるジャズの調べが、かすかに聞こえてくるような気がした。

Cup Mole

It was a lively lure made of balsa wood, with a subtle whisper to it.

When I held it in my hand, I was a little surprised by how light it was. It felt like a piece of a lingering dream, or a captured image from some distant summer afternoon.

This lure gave me a curious sense of confidence. It had the ability to calmly weave its way through all sorts of "noise," both on the water’s surface and beneath it. The secret was the small weight gently embedded in its belly. Like a solid thought placed at the center of a calm mind, it kept the lure steady, no matter the turmoil. Even the double hook was designed to rest snugly against the body—like a secret promise.

Most lures are a bit too honest. Their eyelets stick out, brushing against submerged bamboo, fallen reeds, or masses of floating weeds and leaves that have built up like the sediment of time. And then they get snagged. It’s like finding a forgotten thorn caught in your heart. But the Cup Mole was different. It slipped past underwater obstacles like a shadow, as if tracing memories of the past sunk to the depths. Even the cup held a quiet, definite wisdom for overcoming such troublesome obstacles.

It’s simple to use: just reel it in steadily. It's like following a line that connects past and present. Or, stop for a moment and make a sweeping turn on the water’s surface—a quiet gesture, like pausing to reflect at a crossroads in life.

This time, a straight propeller has been added. It's as if the “whisper” of this lure now carries a little more determination. “Appeal” may be too strong a word, but its subtle glow certainly speaks to “them” under the water—and to “us” waiting by the water’s edge.

The color is "Hot Tiger," boldly delivering its presence at the threshold between water and sky.

It was just a lure. But when I held it in my hand, for some reason, I felt as if I could hear, faintly, the sound of far-off waves and the melody of jazz drifting from a distant café.
