静かな水面に、それはふと現れる。
「ケムポップ（PS）」——ピクピクスライドの略称を持つ、小さなルアーだ。

バルサ製の軽やかなボディはわずか2.5グラム。スピニングタックルで扱うことを前提に作られている。サイズは、従来のケムポップ45ミリから50ミリへと、ほんの少しだけ大きくなった。けれど、その変化は水の中では確かな意味を持つ。

口はカップ状ではない。代わりに、背中の頂点にラインアイがあり、尾にはフラッシャーがひとつ、ささやかに揺れている。その姿は、何かを主張するでもなく、ただそこにある。

着水後、ラインを水面に触れさせないようにして、細かくシェイクする。するとルアーは、まるで意思を持つかのように、頭の方向へとすべる。静かに、しかし確かに。
一方で、ラインを水面に預ければ、動きは変わる。スライドは抑えられ、代わりにピクピクと、不安定に揺れる。それはどこか、命の残り火を抱えた小魚のようだ。

開発の途中、ラインアイを背中の頂点ではなく、斜め45度の位置に置いたこともあった。泳ぐ方向をあらかじめ決めてしまうためだ。しかし、その動きはあまりに控えめだった。結局、頂点に戻した。方向は決めない。
ただし、釣り人が望めば決めることもできる。着水後、ロッドを倒し、一度だけジャークを入れる。それだけでいい。

50アップが釣れたときのことを思い出す。特別な操作はしていない。ただ、水面に浮かべたまま、気の向くままにピクピクと動かしていただけだ。それで十分だった。

尻尾は固定されていない。自由に動く。飛距離を犠牲にしないための、小さな選択だ。

マッディウォーターでどうかは、正直なところまだわからない。ただ、七色ダムではこのルアーの前身となるプロトタイプがよく働いたし、芦ノ湖の放流バスには驚くほど素直に効いた。理由は説明しにくいが、そういうこともある。

カラーは3つ。クラウン、ワカサギ、そしてチャートワカサギ。どのカラーも口元は蛍光色になっていて、水面でルアーがどちらを向いているのかが、ふとした瞬間にわかる。

リングは1番。フックは細軸のカルティバST26、8番。必要なものは、すべてそこに揃っている。

あとは、水面と、ほんの少しの意志だけでいい。

『KEMPOP PS』
It appears, almost suddenly, on the calm surface of the water.

“KemPop (PS)”—a small lure, its name short for “Pikupiku Slide.”

Its balsa wood body weighs just 2.5 grams. Light enough for spinning tackle.
The length has been slightly increased from the original KemPop’s 45 mm to 50 mm.
A small change, perhaps—but one that carries a clear meaning in the water.

The mouth isn’t cup-shaped. Instead, a line eye sits on the top of its back, and a single flasher hangs quietly from the tail.
It doesn’t insist on anything. It simply exists.

After it lands, keep the line off the water and give it a gentle shake.
The lure slides toward its head, as if guided by a quiet intention.
Softly, but with certainty.

Let the line touch the surface, and the movement changes.
The slide is restrained. In its place comes an unsteady twitch—
like a small fish, still holding on to what little life remains.

During development, we tested a 45-degree line eye, hoping to fix its direction in advance.
But the movement became too subtle, too predictable.
So we returned it to the top. The direction is left undefined.

And yet, if you want to decide the direction, you can.
After the lure lands, lower the rod and give it a single jerk.
That’s enough.

I remember catching a bass over 50 centimeters with it.
Nothing special.
I simply let it sit on the surface, moving it when I felt like it.
That was all it took.

The tail isn’t fixed. It moves freely—
a small decision, made to preserve casting distance.

To be honest, I’m still not entirely sure how it performs in muddy water.
But the prototype proved itself at Nanairo Dam.
And, somewhat unexpectedly, it worked on stocked bass in Lake Ashi as well.
Sometimes, things don’t need a clear explanation.

The color lineup includes Crown, Wakasagi, and Chart Wakasagi.
Each features a fluorescent mouth, so you can instantly read its orientation on the surface.

The hardware is simple and precise: a size 1 ring, paired with a thin-shank Cultiva ST-26 hook in size 8.
Everything you need is there.

All that remains is the water’s surface—
and a small measure of your own intention.
